Well, the first official day of PortCon is over and we're actually doing REALLY well in the Artist Alley. Hey Lianne - we ran out of "World Ends With You" pins today! People LOVE them!

I will update more later, but for now I just wanted to post one of my commissions I did today of Doctor Venture:

It's been such a busy couple of weeks at work and at home. :/
We've been busy at work for the past month (which means working 60+ hours a week) working on the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition that is shooting a show this week in NH. One of our clients, R.J. Moreau was chosen as the builder, so we've been doing websites, apparel, press releases, advertising, etc for what feels like a year now. Now that the show is finally filming we're busier than ever... I'm so tired. It will be worth it though because I'll get to meet Ty. :3

Also, I turned 24 at the beginning of the month, which means birfday presents! Of course...
Patrick got me an awesome wide format printer and a heat press. I feel so crafy and creative now!

I want to thank Lianne for the many gifties she sent me. For all you people that know Animal Crossing, she got me a RESETTI plush! MY GOD! He's so evil! XD

In between the birthday festivities and working by ass off behind a computer at work, I've been getting art together to sell at AAC. I took a day off from work to finish drawing and help with the mad rush of making items to put the art on (bookmarks, buttons, keychains, notebooks, totebags, prints, etc). I felt like I was at SCAD again, pulling all nighters to get finals done.

In the end, though, everything got done and we sold A TON of merch at the con. It was a small con (about 800 people), but we made out really well. We ended up selling out of items on Saturday, so we had to stay up until 4:30 am that night to make more items. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun.

Here are some images of our table:

IT'S STILL SNOWING HERE! :C FROWNY FACE! :C

I'm totally ready for Winter to be over now. Totally ready. It was a warm 50 degrees out yesterday, and today it's gone form rain, sleet, and now heavy snow... and there's supposed to be another storm on Monday. If the weather doesn't get better soon, I'm considering packing up and moving to the south. At least in the south there is Krispy Kreme and Hardees...

In other news, I'm getting ready for Anime Boston next weekend. I got myself a table at their Artist's Alley, but I'm no where near ready. The procrastination of college returned and I haven't even drawn anything... well a couple sketches (Link and Cooking Mama... haha!) I have some cool stuff planned, but I don't really have any prints to sell. I'll have to move it this weekend, but I also have a freelance web site to complete and a commission to do BEFORE the con.

Oh noes.

I've done worse before. If it all fails at the end I can deal with it as it comes.

Work is going pretty good, depite the fact I'm always so busy. Today I had to do some character sketches for an animation. I don't know why my boss thinks I am an animator, I even told him today "I'm not an animator. I don't know how to animate." But I still have to animate. It's going to be shitty compared to what most of the people on my LJ Friend's List can do (I'm looking at you 2D animators), but I'll try anyways.

These are the subjects for the animation: A Cat, modeled after my mom's birman "Chewy" and a dog, modeled after my sister's new pitbull (and my new roomie) "Toki Wartooth."

Well, another Happy Birthday to me as I'm 23 today! Hurrah! On Thursday some wonderful people sent me some birthday goodness through the mail. I want to give a big THAAAAAAAAAAANKS to Lianne for the awesome skully-bunny plushie as it is soft and freakin' adorable. She also sent me Harvest Moon game for the DS. I was playing it last night and realized that I'm going to need to share my Harvest Moon time with Animal Crossing. I'm only 23 and I'm running two towns. I'm amazing. XD Patrick sent me like the whole Animal Crossing town in plastic figure format. I have the little houses, neighbors, and cool teeny tiny furniture pieces. I felt like a dork that I could name all of them like the Lovely Vanity and Kiddie Couch, but it probably doesn't surprise some of you. I'm a huge AC dork.

On Friday and Saturday, my sister and I headed up to Another Anime Con in Manchester, NH. It was the first time for this con and our first time getting an Artist's Alley table. It was a very small con, like 500 people, but we were still able to make over $200 in profit from making buttons, bookmarks, key chains, and original art. The most popular of our items was anything with Kingdom Hearts characters on it. I didn't even realize how popular Roxas and Axel were. Everyday we sold out of those buttons, and on Saturday, eventually the key chains. I was surprised how people actually wanted to buy stuff with my art on it... I was even able to sell little sketches that I did in like two minutes at the con. It was great!

One of the people who ran the convention came up to me later to ask if I wanted to run the "How to Draw Anime" panel that they were having, because the person who was supposed to run it didn't show. Weird. I said I would, but he never came back so I guess they just didn't have it. Needless to say, my head got pretty fat this weekend due to how well our Artist's Alley table was received. I'm going to take this confidence to some other cons in the future. I'll definitely be attending Anime Boston in April, and maybe some smaller cons before that. It depends how my money situation works out, because I really want to go to Otakon as well in 2007. I'm going to work more with my sister on this stuff, perhaps get a little studio name going, so we'll be recognized from con to con. I also need to sell some prints. I didn't have anything ready for this weekend, but you'll be seeing a lot of new art from me in the future.

Geez, it seems as though I don't like to post here or something. Plenty has happened in the last few weeks, I've just been too lazy to write it all down - yeah, I'm that lazy.

The highlight of my summer has so far been my trip down to Otakon. I took the train (a mistake) with my sister down to New Jersey to stay with my friends, Lianne and Karl for a couple of days before we all made the trip to Baltimore. We had fun times and my sister, Jenny, met my friends and her Naruto 2 fighting game rival, Karl. It was fun to see them play together battle to the death via the Game Cube. They both got their victories as they glared angrily at eachother.

We also went to a boardwalk area that was around Lianne's house. There were carnival-type games and rides, and most importantly arcades. My sister had this strong will to find a DDR machine so that we could play together. I was all up for that, but the crowd of twelve year olds wanting to push and play first kind of turned us off from wanting to play it. Later on she was able to sniff out a different DDR machine at a nearby arcade. We played five songs and then I wanted more... so we played again. If you've ever been a dork enough to play DDR or seen one of your friends play it at an arcade, you would have to notice the large crowd that gathers to watch people play it. Now I know I'm not the most delicate, graceful butterfly out there, but I still like to play DDR. Usually, I'm okay at it. Put it on Light mode and not have to worry about making too much of an ass out of myself. When my sister and I play we like to save the hardest song for last incase we mess it up or something, so like usual, that's what we did. An eager crowd is waiting to play behind us and I'm ready to go. The song started out pretty good. I was hitting every step, well until I fell off right on my face... -_-; I had new shoes on that I guess were slippery (? better to blame it on the shoes rather than my "graces"). It was such an awkward fall... reminded me of a tree that gets cut down for lumber. Falls straight down flat. I felt like an idot. Well, an idiot that just gets right back up and finishes the game. I still managed to get a "B."

The next day we made the trek to Baltimore. Lianne drove and Karl was nominated by default to be the navigator. We made it there in one piece and had no trouble. Heh. Thanks for the X-Files music in the car Lianne. XD Our hotel was really nice (better be for $200+ a night) and we were in close walking distance from the con. There were so many people in the streets dressed up in cosplay. It was pretty cool, but I'm sure the locals were wondering where all the freaks had come from.

During the next three days I got to spend time with my friends. Lianne, Karl, Mike, my sister, and I all shared a hotel room which cut down on expenses and was a lot of fun. My sister got to learn about the crazy side of my friends and some of the jokes and stories. She's still laughing about the whole "Hulk Hands" thing. I also got to see Brittany and Sarah, who were both staffing at the con. They looked so busy and rather important with those walkie-talkies. A big thanks goes out to Brittany for getting us some nice seats at the L'Arc~en~Ciel concert. There were so many people at the concert and at the con itself. It was great. Of course I had a grand old time in the dealer's room buying over-priced goods, including some nice Naruto figures and keychains (Rock-Lee... nice!). Hey, I did get a nice Guilty Gear XX artbook and an equally as nice Naruto artbook. I felt rather Otaku-ish when I bought an wristband bearing Sasuke's Uchiha family symbol (from Naruto), but it's still my favorite item.

I also spent some quality time in the green cloud of funk (aka the Video Game Room). I enjoyed playing some Super Smash Bros Melee, although the guys playing it were a little too intense and competetive, but that was okay. It made it all the more sweeter when I, only just a girl, kicked their sorry asses with the wonderfully pink Kirby. I loved it, but they didn't. That made me love it more. I also got to play some Naruto 2 against an equally annoying crowd. I was playing one of the weaker characters (well, in the anime/manga), and who also happened to be a girl. They didn't seem to like that I had already won a round and then wanted to team up on me. Grrr... In another light my sister and Mike did pretty good with their characters. I had fun cheering them on.

The Art Room was also one of my favorite places to be. I enjoyed browsing everyone's art there. I got to see some people I recognized from online and check out some of my friend, Dana's work. I liked her Naruto cut-out, although she left it in the hotel room or something. Her Full Metal Alchemist one was cool too, I have to see that series. I didn't really buy that much in the Art Room, but I did get a t-shirt from an awesome artist there. She had some amazing original work, something I kind of wanted to see more of at the con... although I did buy a nice doujinshi-style Get Backers fan art from a very talented artist. Karl and Mike didn't like the picture so much, but I thought it was very nice. ^.^

From what we were all talking about at the con is seems that a bunch of us want to get an artist's table for Otakon 2005. Shoujo Phonebook definately needs to be there and I want to try my hand at actually selling some of my art. I hardly do any fanart, but I could probably get a couple of nice pieces to sell.

I guess it was a lot of fun if we are already talking about next year, huh? I'm planning on being even more of a dork cooler next year by doing some cosplay. We're going to be characters from Naruto. We'll have the Sand Nins; Temari (Lianne), Gaara (Mike), Kankurou (myself) / his puppet, Karasu (my sister) and we want to get some leaf village ninjas. My Kankurou costume should prove to be very interesting. We want to have the chakra strings and everything going to the puppet (my sister). Should be fun. I think I'm freaky enough to look like Kankurou, well except for the whole being-a-girl thing. Brittany has done a convincing Sasuke in the past, so maybe she can help me.

I had a great time visiting with my friends...although some of you weren't there :c

Now I'm really excited about about going back to SCAD to be with you all. It's sappy, but SCAD is so much fun. Hopefully Boundary Village will be all set for us to move in... that could prove interesting in itself. Man, I'm really not looking forward to getting all my crap out of the storage unit. We're so disorganized in there. XD Lovely.
